Substance use disorders can sidetrack our lives and can cause damage to our relationship with ourselves and those who love us. Treating a substance use disorder can be a life saving move. It starts with assessment and seeing how using a substance has impacted our lives. There are many interventions that can assist in finding sobriety.
Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most uncomfortable emotions that most of us experience from time to time in our lives. Counseling and treatment can help you recover your motivation and perspective and rediscover joy . One intervention commonly used for these disorders is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which may be paired with other therapeutic treatments.
Past traumatic circumstances can be the source of ongoing painful feelings, including anxiety, fear, and hopelessness. I work with clients to guide them through the process of grief and healing to overcome these feelings.
Interventions can include Somatic Experience, EMDR and talk therapy
Even the most well-intentioned family can be the source of adult trauma. Trauma or wounds from our youth can impede or severely impact our emotional development. Often these occurrences lead to shame or codependency. I will assist you in exploring your family-of-origin system to help you find where you might have "gotten stuck" and teach you coping skills to navigate life on life's terms.
Acudetox is three- to five- point ear acupuncture protocol that can be helpful during early-stage recovery from substance use. Acudetox has been shown to assist some people by reducing craving, minimizing withdrawal symptoms, lowering anxiety and agitation, and increasing calmness and concentration. I am licensed by the Texas Medical Board to provide this intervention.
Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is a useful tool in treating depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other mood disorders.
